- [Mnsfs] Dear FPSPACErs, our discussion has started to focus on Yuri Gagarin & naturally this will escalate all the way to the golden anniversary on 12th April 2011. For those interested in quite another, more humble, topic, some more news on South Africa's space affairs popped up in this morning's Business Day (Johannesburg) 24 March, page. 3 First, the Treasury has allocated the new South African National Space Agency (SANSA) a three year budget of ZAR 298 million. Clearly, that means no re-start on any space launcher programme: just putting microsats out to tender, & buying commercial launch services. The regulatory entity, the Space Affairs Council of SA, has been allocated an annual ZAR one million. Second, the relevant ministers & cabinet are discussing merging these two entities. Third, all of us are hard at work with a Local Organizing Committee, and a broader Preparatory Committee, for the IAC in October in Cape Town. with warm regar! ds, Keith.
